We are searching for a  Recreation Programmer to join our London Hall team based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

About the Opportunity

  • Conducts recreation programs in a variety of settings, such as large groups, small groups and one-to-one
  • Plans, implements and evaluates internal and external recreation programs focusing on emotional, intellectual, physical, social, and spiritual needs of the residents.
  • Prepares rooms and equipment for recreation programs; lays out material for residents’ use; cleans up recreation areas; maintains proper care and level of supplies and equipment.
  • Motivates and facilitates resident participation in recreation programs and resident involvement with the community.
  • Documents resident progress evaluations, Admission Assessments and other reports as required.
  • Maintains accurate resident participation records; analyzes data to assist in the development of appropriate programs.
  • Assists in the training, supervision, and evaluation of volunteers and student placements.
  • Follows safety, environmental and infection control practices as per facility policies.
  • About You

    Requirements Include :

  • Two year post secondary diploma in Recreation / Leisure Studies.
  • Undergraduate degree in Recreation / Leisure Studies
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification
  • The ability to work required shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • The following would be considered assets :

  • Knowledge of techniques and equipment needed for a variety of recreation programs used in a therapeutic setting.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of human behavior as related to the recreational needs of institutional residents.
  • Ability to display a high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
