We are searching for a Recreation Programmer to join our London Hall team based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

About the Opportunity

Conducts recreation programs in a variety of settings, such as large groups, small groups and one-to-one

Plans, implements and evaluates internal and external recreation programs focusing on emotional, intellectual, physical, social, and spiritual needs of the residents.

Prepares rooms and equipment for recreation programs; lays out material for residents’ use; cleans up recreation areas; maintains proper care and level of supplies and equipment.

Motivates and facilitates resident participation in recreation programs and resident involvement with the community.

Documents resident progress evaluations, Admission Assessments and other reports as required.

Maintains accurate resident participation records; analyzes data to assist in the development of appropriate programs.

Assists in the training, supervision, and evaluation of volunteers and student placements.

Follows safety, environmental and infection control practices as per facility policies.

About You

Requirements Include :

Two year post secondary diploma in Recreation / Leisure Studies.

Undergraduate degree in Recreation / Leisure Studies

Current First Aid and CPR Certification

The ability to work required shifts, weekends and holidays.

The following would be considered assets :

Knowledge of techniques and equipment needed for a variety of recreation programs used in a therapeutic setting.

Knowledge of basic computer skills

Knowledge of human behavior as related to the recreational needs of institutional residents.

Ability to display a high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
