Seasonal: (30-35 hours/week) Hours will vary and must be flexible. Must be available evenings and some weekends.
Compensation based on experience.
Position Dates: May 24th, 2024 – Sept 3rd, 2024 (Must be available to meet before Season to prepare appropriately).
Job Summary:
Shannopin Country Club is seeking an Assistant Pool Manager for the Summer of 2024 to oversee the entire pool operation including pool cleanliness, pool check-in process, surrounding pool area maintenance/cleanliness, and staff hiring. The Assistant Pool Manager will work directly with the Pool Manager on a weekly staff schedule and directly oversee Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, and Check-In staff to ensure the daily operations of the pool facilities run smoothly and efficiently. The Assistant Pool Manager is the front-line aquatics leadership who ensures we provide safe, clean, family friendly aquatic facilities for Shannopin Members, their guests, and visitors to swim, play, and have fun.
Supervision and guidance for this position is provided by the Pool Manager, General Manager, and the Pool Committee. Daily hours range from 8:00am to 8:00pm, with some hours slightly earlier or later for special events or swim meets.
Duties:
· Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff.
· Provides direct supervision of Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, and Pool Check-in staff.
· Formulates weekly work schedules and rotation schedules for all pool employees.
· Assists with Swim Team Operations.
· Demonstrates lifeguarding skills, and knowledge.
· Reacts calmly and immediately to emergency situations and administers proper care. Leads staff in emergency situations.
· Enforces pool rules of safety and conduct.
· Supervise Lifeguard 10/20 scanning, vigilance, and standards for test readiness. The Assistant Pool Manager is required to correct any issues immediately to ensure visitor and staff safety above all other duties.
· Acts as a role model for aquatics staff and always presents a professional attitude and appearance.
· Utilizes appropriate communication devices such as whistles, hand signals, written and spoken words.
· Leads and assists with maintenance of pool to provide a clean and safe facility. Duties include sanitizing chairs and tables.
· Perform and supervise pool maintenance duties including back-washing, regular cleaning of baskets and filters, vacuuming and skimming the pool, cleaning deck and grass areas, empty trash receptacles, and caring for the overall cleanliness of the facility.
· Ensures daily chemical, safety, and equipment logs are recorded and maintained.
· Maintains and keeps all necessary records concerning pool attendance, pool chemicals, accident reports, problem-member reports/disciplinary write-ups, lifeguard, and instructor schedules, etc.
· Tests water chemicals and makes appropriate necessary adjustments to chemicals or chemical feeders to comply with health standards. Managers should seek advice from qualified personnel when completing chemical adjustments to ensure quality operation of the facility.
· Attend/facilitate regular mandatory staff meetings and in-service training monthly.
· Ability to work varied shifts, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
· Plans and directs special events at the pool as directed by Clubhouse Management.
· Maintains inventory of chemicals, emergency supplies, and daily supplies.
· Assists in pool opening and closing at the beginning and end of season.
Qualifications:
· Previous aquatics experience with a minimum of 2 years as a Lifeguard. 3 years preferred.
· Previous aquatics leadership experience, with a minimum of 1 year as a Lead Lifeguard or equivalent.
· WPCCSA and private club experience preferred.
· Basic knowledge of pump room operations and preventative maintenance.
· Ability to maintain knowledge of CPR, Rescue Breathing, First Aid and all other emergency care and treatment at test ready levels and ensure that staff does the same through unannounced drills, ongoing trainings, and direct coaching.
· Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) (local, state or nationally recognized certification)
· Current CPR/AED/FA Certification
· Current Category 24 Pesticide Certification
· American Red Cross Life Guarding Instructor
· American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (optional)
- Available to work mornings, evenings, and weekends
- Work at least one day on the holiday weekend
- Swim lesson experience but not required
