We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Lab Technician to join our engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting experiments, collecting data, and analyzing results to help drive our organization forward. The engineering lab technician will work under the direction of the Engineering Lab Technician Lead to support the engineering department’s efforts to test, develop and validate Ultra High-Pressure Pump (UHP) and accessory technology for the waterjet pumps, related components, and software.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct experiments and collect data in support of engineering projects
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- Analyze data and prepare reports to summarize results
- Communicate findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Perform mechanical and electrical build of prototype equipment from technical drawings and wiring schematics
- Manage Test Logs to document part changes and observations on test units
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to support equipment commissioning and customer service calls
Qualifications
- Experience with a variety of laboratory equipment and techniques
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience
- 2 years of experience as an Engineering Lab Technician or similar role involving testing and debugging of industrial equipment
- Strong technical knowledge of engineering principles and procedures
- Ability to analyze data and communicate results effectively
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Education and/or Experience
- 2 year technical degree, preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience related to mechanical, industrial hydraulic systems, and control systems
- Fork Truck Operation
- Operate Overhead Crane
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to use common tools including torque wrenches and multi-meters
Communication Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to confidently and professionally represent KMT while at the customer's site
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be Capable of standing for extended periods (8 hours per shift). Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Flexibility to engage in physical tasks such as pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, and twisting. Adaptability to work in varying climate conditions, including both cold and hot environments.
