Job Overview: The CNC Programmer is responsible for developing and designing drawings and operation work instructions for CNC machines. Also responsible for creating and modifying CAM software to generate program software that controls the operation of a CNC machine.
Responsibilities and Duties Required
- Apply in-depth programming experience with complex tolerance parts using CNC machines, such as mills, lathes, mill-turn, EDM’s, Prima (Laserdyne) Fiber laser, Flow waterjet, and automation robots.
- Collaborates with the project engineers to ensure the manufacturing plan is clearly identified and the work scope meets all requirements of the proposal and customer’s requirements.
- Review and create CAD models and/or blueprints.
- Design work holding fixtures and jigs in support of the manufacturing plan.
- Uses CAM software to generate program code that controls the operation of a CNC machine.
- Create operation work instruction sheets utilizing CAD/CAM software and models.
- Develops most efficient process with consideration to safety, cost, and product quality.
- Decides tools, speeds, feeds and fixtures to be used.
- Run and verify using simulation software.
- Create internal drawings and part models as required for operation work instructions using different types of CAD software.
- Support any task assigned by the Engineering Technical Leader
- Participates in discussions with customers and suppliers as required.
- Must program, validate, and document to maintain control of CNC programs. Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience using Cenit, Catia, Mastercam, Siemens NX, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in operating CNC machines.
- Performs duties and responsibilities with a high degree of flexibility, attention to detail, and a focus on quality in a manufacturing environment.
- Must have the ability to work independently, proactively and meet customers deadlines.
- Must work well with the manufacturing floor.
- Must be Six Sigma green belt certified.
- Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and machine tools, measurement devices, shop mathematics, and materials and processes used in machining and manufacturing close tolerance metal parts.
- Must be comfortable working in a production-oriented environment, traveling throughout the plant to perform job duties.
- Ability to perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Proficient with Laserdyne, Flow Waterjet, Hurco, Siemens, Mazak, and Mori Controllers.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, symbols, and geometric tolerances.
- Must be proficient using Microsoft Office products.
- Capable of mentoring employees.
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to effectively make complex decisions with limited time and information and can determine decision making criteria based on priorities.

Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift, move, transport and load items across the building up to 50 pounds at times.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position and constantly re-position self to perform required tasks.
