Job Overview : Under general direction by the Project Engineer, this position performs projects related to machining and fabrication for new and existing product by creating work instructions, design of fixture and gages.
Responsibilities and Duties Required
Ability to process complex fabricated and machined components / assemblies
Must be able to conceptualize and design developmental and production tooling
Create operation work instruction sheets utilizing Computer-aided Design / Computer-aided Manufacturing (CAD / CAM) software and models : NX and Solid Edge.
Create bill of materials and standard routers per internal procedures
Create outside service drawings and specifications
Create internal drawings and specifications
Work closely with the Project engineer to incorporate inspection methods and plans in work instructions
Acquire all signature approvals on all supporting documents for work instructions and process routers
Support any task assigned by the Project Engineer
Review and disposition product repairs, reworks, and MRB's
Investigate and oversee root cause and corrective actions on assigned projects
Familiarity with specifications and requirements for commercial and military component
Participates in discussions with customers and suppliers as required
Performs other duties as required

Working knowledge of ERP system. IFS experience a plus.
Experience and Skills Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years manufacturing engineering experience is acceptable.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in sheet metal forming, TIG welding, and / or multi-axis machining manufacturing.
Must have the ability to research, understand, and implement innovative technologies to reduce cost and improve quality.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, symbols, geometric tolerances, and specifications.
Must have working knowledge of the CAD / CAM system use, shop mathematics, sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, inspection methods, and coatings.
Must be proficient using Microsoft Office products.
Capable of mentoring employees.
Must be a certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and on a team.
Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Must be able to communicate and read English proficiently.
Job, Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Physical Demands :
Must be able to lift, move, transport and load items across the building up to 50 pounds at times.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position and constantly re-position self to perform required tasks.
Constantly operate machinery required for this job.
May be required to work on slippery and uneven surfaces.
May be exposed to physical hazards from moving equipment, heavy equipment, and machine parts.
Specific coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of equipment.
May work in close proximity to others.
Visual Acuity :
Visual acuity of 20 / 20 or corrected.
Close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Ability to read computer screen and documents.
Hearing Ability :
Normal hearing or corrected to normal.
Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes to take appropriate action.

Factory environment.
Occasional work outside normal business hours.
High noise levels from operating machines.
