We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Worker (DSW) to provide essential care for an elderly woman. Duties
- Provide assistance with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Monitor and document patient observations, including changes in behavior or health status.
- Assist with memory care activities to promote cognitive engagement and social interaction.
- Implement care plans developed in collaboration with healthcare professionals and family members.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Perform heavy lifting as necessary to assist the elderly woman with mobility or transfers.
- Engage in activities that foster independence and enhance the overall well-being of the individual.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to reduce feelings of isolation.
Qualifications
- Experience in a group home or similar setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and memory care strategies.
- Certification in CPR is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and best practices for patient confidentiality.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by the role.
- Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients and families.
