Director of Operations
Athea Laboratories, Inc., a leader in the manufacture of specialty chemical products and wet wipes, has an immediate opening for a Director of Operations for its cGMP manufacturing and warehousing locations in the Milwaukee area. This position oversees and directs the Operations Team, which is comprised of production, maintenance, procurement, shipping/receiving, and inventory control. The Director of Operations will oversee and optimize all manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient production, high-quality output and adherence to safety and regulatory standards. This role will help drive operational excellence, strategic growth and continuous improvement withing the organization.
Essential functions and responsibilities:
- Develop and implement operational strategies that are aligned with the company’s goals and objectives
- Develop and manage the operational budget, ensuring cost-effective practices and financial performance
- Analyze and improve operational process to enhance efficiency, productivity, and profitability
- Oversee daily manufacturing operations, including production planning, scheduling, and execution
- Collaborate with other departments, including R&D and Sales, to align manufacturing capabilities with business needs.
- Implement and sustain lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement initiatives, preventative maintenance and the company’s 5s program.
- Enforce policies and protocols that ensure that all operations comply with all applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
- Direct special projects as needed to support the organization’s goals and strategic direction
- Data analysis of production output to improve efficiencies and yield.
- Evaluate overall performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, business administration, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in operations management in a leadership role.
- Proficient knowledge of improvement methodologies such as Lean, DMAIC, and 5s.
- Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Dynamic critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and oral (face-to-face/phone) communication skills.
- Adept analytical and mathematical skills
- Exceptional ability at managing workload priorities
- Strong organizational skills
- Robust proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Computer proficiency adequate to understand how information is managed and obtained using the business’s Enterprise Resource Planning software.
- Working knowledge of data analytics and performance/operation metrics
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
