Organization Overview:
Share Food Program (“Share”) is the leading hunger relief organization in the Greater Philadelphia region and one of the largest independent food banks in the nation. Food insecurity is a crisis in our communities. The ripple effects of the pandemic, record rates of inflation, and critical cuts to government assistance benefits have plunged even more people into hunger and poverty. Today, Share feeds hundreds of thousands individuals each month—more than half of whom are children and seniors.
Position Overview:
The Senior Grant Manager is an experienced grant writing professional who will lead Share’s grant proposal project management and writing activities. This role is responsible for creating high quality, competitive grant applications that support Share’s operational, programmatic and Capital needs, and for ongoing grant opportunity research and report writing. This person will work closely with the Executive Director, Finance, Program and other Development team members to identify funding needs and create proposal strategies.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Proposal Project Management & Writing
- Create high-quality, competitive grant applications that support Share Food Program’s operational, programmatic, and Capital needs.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director, Finance, Program and other Development team members to identify funding needs and create proposal strategies
- Develop annual grant strategy and goals that build and sustain relationships with private foundations
- Regularly update grants strategy and grant calendar with targeted goals, objectives, methods, quantifiable outcomes and timelines to achieve sustainability and annual budget goals
- Collaborate with internal staff and external vendors to identify and secure private and public funding for the Capital Campaign for Food Justice
Research and Report Writing
- Seek out new funding opportunities and research funders using Foundation Directory Online and/or other non-profit development databases
- Write and submit accurate program narrative reports that fulfill requirements of awarding entities
- Collaborate with program staff to collect program outcomes and other required information
- Coordinate with the Finance team to produce required accompanying financial reports
Institutional Funder Cultivation and Stewardship
- Support Development team’s use of EveryAction to track funder cultivation and stewardship, funding opportunities, and grant compliance
- Build out an 18-month Grant Stewardship plan to support Share’s growing programs
- Work with the Executive Director, Development team, and external consultants to identify new prospects
- Participate in funder meetings and visits to cultivate and steward relationships
- Develop direct relationships with key staff at funding entities to gather information for proposals, solicit feedback on applications as needed and clarify funding priorities
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experience in nonprofit fundraising
- Strong writing skills; grant proposal development experience preferred
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Strategic and long-term planning abilities
- Experience with donor databases, and with data analysis
Physical Requirements:
- Position requires sitting at a desk and working on a computer up to 90% of the time
- Position requires keyboard use or repetitive hand motion
- Position requires lifting/carrying up to 15 pounds at times
Job Type: Full-time, Exempt
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 annually
