Job Summary

Along with the EHS team, the EHS Specialist II will be the champions of environmental, safety, and health programs and policies relating to applicable local, state and federal regulations.

Primary responsibilities of this position include collecting data for environmental and regulatory compliance, as well as planning, developing, implementing and administering safety, environmental, and health programs.

Interfacing with associates and management regarding EHS initiatives is imperative in this position to reduce accidents and improve environmental, health, and safety within the organization.

Job Details / Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, develop and implement EHS programs that promote a positive safety culture engaging associates (e.g. Safety Committees / Teams).
  • Actively partner with Distribution and Logistics management to establish policies and direction (e.g. establish and achieve EHS goals / metrics) that successfully support the EHS program.
  • Subject Matter Expert in Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) safety and Fall Protection Program.
  • Create company standards for PIT / Pedestrian interaction safety
  • Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets and chemical inventories to ensure compliance with facility EHS programs and work with project teams to identify and mitigate new EHS risk.
  • Key leader for the Trailer Docking and Releasing Safety Program
  • Conduct safety audits of the facilities to comply with regulations, identify best practices and pinpoint unsafe working conditions or behaviors;

coordinate audits and testing to ensure that hazards are identified and mitigated.

  • Champion EHS activities and be a resource to teams and management.
  • Develop and recommend incident / accident prevention programs to include specific protective procedures and devices ensuring effective investigations with root cause analysis.

Drive associated documentation and implementation of corrective actions.

  • Participate in equipment design reviews and ergonomic assessments for transfer and / or new equipment reviews; assist with the review and updating of JHA’s.
  • Serve as and EHS team member ensuring proper safety compliance and design safeguards for projects or new equipment reviews.
  • Lead EHS continuous improvement projects.

Job Responsibilities (continued)

  • Oversee the first aid, AED and Eyewash programs.
  • Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team and be available for on-call response.
  • As part of the EHS team be responsible for incident / root cause investigation for all injuries and incidents in the facility.
  • Manage or when managed by another department support recordkeeping requirements associated with EHS programs.
  • Understand and work within the quality systems, following FDA and applicable international regulations as required.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

The salary for this position is $69,300 - $103,900.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)

  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA and other related compliance requirements.
  • Good communication skills and desire to work as part of a team.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office software and experience with online reporting tools.
  • Ability to set up and work within an organized, document-controlled environment.

Qualifications / Background Experiences

  • A four-year college degree in environmental science, environmental engineering chemical engineering or related field and a minimum of three years’ related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, regulated industry or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Mutli-Site Experience a plus.
  • First Aid, PIT, Fall Protection, Warehousing Safety.
