What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Engineer position at Shared Success Center?
Research, evaluate and recommend the implementation of new systems and improvements to existing systems (firewall, web application firewall, load balancer, switching, Wi-Fi, NAC) to meet company needs. Assist in managing, and prioritizing projects involving network services and overseeing the onboarding and project implementation of new and existing companies. Assist in the designing, and development of networking and security platforms and systems to attain maximum efficiencies and minimize costs that meet or exceed Critical Security Control (CSC) standards.

1. Develop, direct and implement networking solutions. (45-55%)

- Build and implement state-of-the-art, next-generation secure networking solutions, including implementation of firewall services, switching and access point services, and Network Access Control services within public cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure and Google GCP.
- Build and implement highly secure virtualized network infrastructure solutions using Microsoft Azure, as well as support existing IT staff at HSoA operating companies who have on-site systems.
- Solve technical problems involving integrated infrastructure technologies such as Palo Alto, Cisco, Meraki networking equipment, have knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems, and SQL database technologies and their associated networking requirements.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging changes within cloud technologies and help the HSoA operating companies’ technical teams by providing training and troubleshooting assistance. Review product testing and deployment.
- Maintain and document thorough knowledge of company business operations to meet the company networking technology needs.
2. Perform hardware troubleshooting and installation. (25-35%)
- Provide expert technical support as requested or assigned. Respond to complex issues and questions regarding network platform hardware and virtual appliances and devices. Employ critical thinking skills when working with various software and hardware platforms and their interworking’s with the company networking platforms, including printers, PCs, network communication devices, and file servers.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure office moves/adds/changes are efficient and standardized.
- Monitor existing systems to ensure security and performance standards are being met.
3. Provide Tier 2 level technical support for all networking-related systems including support to sales agents, employees, and other internal teams. (10-15%)
- Assist with developing training materials targeted at end users on networks and/or application use.
- Develop and utilize information networks to promote technology, where appropriate.
- Oversee and maintain network documentation, diagrams, operational checklists, inventories, and training aids.
- Provide cross-training and networking skills training for junior staff where needed.
4. Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (0-5%)

Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, business administration or related field; or equivalent work experience and knowledge.
Experience:
- 7 years of diverse network engineering technical experience, including experience with Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco Meraki switches and access points, Network Access Control Platforms, Web application Firewalls and thorough knowledge of network protocols, dynamic routing protocols, and monitoring.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong computer skills; knowledge of current network protocols and server maintenance.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to plan and analyze, think creatively about solutions to business problems, and initiate and manage change.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
- Detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to work well under pressure.
- Ability to translate technical information into user-friendly language.
