What is Lifesharing?
Life Sharing is when two people, one with a disability, choose to share their life together. Live-In Supporters typically make this decision out of a fondness for the person based on an existing relationship. Or the person may have a desire to have a meaningful life and develop a relationship with the person following introductions and visits. This model of natural support encourages true integration into the community and encourages growth. The role of the Live in supporters is dependent on the supported persons needs. Each program is individualized and tailored to meet the needs of each person. Life Sharing Partners are independent contractors, not employees of Shared Support Inc.
Compensation:
Life Sharing Partners are provided with financial compensation for the support they provide to the person based on disability related needs. Compensation is provided in a monthly stipend and is tax free. The exemption occurs due to the Adult Foster Care Act that was enacted.
Qualifications
Requirements:
In order for the contract to commence, the Live in supporters must have a physical and a Mantoux test. Live-In supporters must have 24 hours of training prior to living with the person with the disability. Live-Ins can attend Shared Support trainings or obtain the necessary trainings at other community locations. Live in supporters must have a drivers license and reliable transportation. Live -In supporters must follow their contracts, which are developed and based on the needs one the individual needs relative to health and safety.
Qualifications

- INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR, NOT AN EMPLOYEE.
- *If approved by program, SSS Lifesharing provides assistance and on-going support to qualified applicants in becoming and remaining a successful Lifesharing provider.
