A Program Specialist is responsible for understanding our individuals’ dreams and helping enable their lives through scheduling and supervising Direct Support Professionals, providing activities in alignment with the person’s desires through our circle process, person centered planning, life choices, ISP, BSP and health and safety needs.
Role and Responsibilities
Program
- Manage support and services ensuring health and safety for individuals
- Schedule the individual’s medical appointments and oversee all medical care
- Ensure the individual’s residences are safe, homelike, and reflect the individual’s preferences
- Manage and supervise staff, with regards to, Shared Wellness policies and procedures as well as program needs
- Ensure reporting and assessments are kept up to date, timely, and meet requirements (including but not limited to: Program Books, Quarterly reports, Annual Assessments & Lifetime Medical History, ISP, BSP, MARS, daily notes, monthly paperwork)
- Facilitate the development of a team focused on supporting the individual
- Provide training and modeling of support strategies, as needed to ensure successful implementation
- Assign team roles to staff to ensure operations for the care of the individual
- Understand appropriate legal and regulatory requirements
- Facilitate the Individual’s monthly Circle meetings
- Develop and implement services in accordance to ISP
- Attend weekly Staff Meetings for Program Specialists
- Facilitate and support individual relationships and communications
- Facilitate, troubleshoot and support program activities
Administrative
- Create weekly schedules for staff and ensure attendance on all shifts
- Partner with HR to hire, manage, and terminate staff
- Participate in the on-call rotation at least once every three months
- Approve staff hours/punches daily in relation to the payroll and billing processes
- Ensure staff meet appropriate training requirements
- Ensure staff follow organizational policies and procedures, and provide disciplinary actions as needed
- Working knowledge of software required to sustain the implementation policies and procedures
- Complete all other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Master’s degree or above from an accredited college or university and 1 year work experience working directly with persons with ID and/or autism or
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years' work experience working directly with persons with ID and/or autism,
