Position Summary
The Production Supervisor will assume overall responsibility providing direct supervision of the participants. The Production Supervisor will make sure that the participants are instructed and taught the correct way to perform a job as well as set up pre-vocational activities. Production Supervisors are also to ensure that Shares Inc. is a safe work environment. Their role requires them to relate well to staff and participants.
Education and Experience Requirements
The Production Supervisor will meet the following minimum education and experience qualifications:
- High School Degree or GED or equivalent experience.
- Prior supervisory experience.
Skill Requirements * Working knowledge about each participant and production operations.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work well in stressful situations.
- Ability to work with all levels within the business organization.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Provide continuous direct supervision to participants during production and down time activities.
- Distribute work and provide training in appropriate job related procedures to participants.
- Maintain person centered programming by actively promoting and participating with all aspects of programming designed for participants.
- Actively solicit and consider participant input when making job assignments.
- Maintain up-to-date records and distribute information to appropriate staff (i.e. production records, attendance, accident injuries reports).
- Administer medication to participants as needed.
- Provide positive role model to participants in areas of attitude, enthusiasm, appropriate dress, conscientiousness, attendance, etc. Maintain good housekeeping at all times.
- Develop skills and utilize applicable computer programs as requested by Plant Manger.
- Assist Plant Manager with annual development of goals and objectives for Sheltered Industry and provide input into curriculum review.
- Participate in local, state, and national organizations determined applicable by staff and supervisor.
- Practice and promote all procedures and policies described in the Quality Manual, Safety Manual and Shares, Inc. Personnel Manual while maintaining and displaying a professional attitude.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager
Job Complexity
Work requires substantial judgment in maintaining a safe work environment for the participants and ensuring that the work is getting completed in a correct manner by the participants. Making sure that the skill set needed for a particular job is matched up to the particular participant that is going to be performing that work, with the assistance of the Plant Manager.
Environment and Conditions
Contacts
The Production Supervisor will interact with the Plant Manager mostly and customers occasionally. They also will interact with Program Manager and Social Workers.
Working Conditions
The Production Supervisor will spend most of their time on their feet walking around the work place. They also will spend time at desk on workshop floor. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds is required with the ability to stand for long periods of time .Office equipment used includes: computer, printer, copier, fax, telephone, etc.
