We are proud to announce that our organization recently received the IRS Tax Counselor for the Elderly (TCE) grant award, recognizing our commitment to serving the community. As part of the program, we are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for meeting and greeting potential customers, answering accounting or tax questions, preparing tax returns as needed, and coordinating with senior staff for complex cases. Strong interpersonal skills, exceptional analytical abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles are essential.
Primary Duties
- Meet and greet potential customers, providing a welcoming and professional first point of contact.
- Conduct outreach efforts to engage with potential clients, including meetings and calls.
- Collaborate with organizations that have senior members who can benefit from the TCE services.
- Call prospective customers to introduce our services and establish relationships.
- Answer accounting and tax-related questions for clients, providing accurate and timely information.
- Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses as needed.
- Collaborate with clients to gather necessary documentation and information for tax preparation.
- Coordinate with senior staff to schedule meetings for complex cases and ensure comprehensive client support.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and regulations to provide accurate advice.
- Travel to various sites as needed; transportation/fuel expenses for visits will be reimbursed.
- Serve as part of the IRS Authorized Tax Counselor Team, you will be recognized for your commitment to providing high-quality tax assistance and support to those in need.
Qualifications
- Field of study: Accounting/Finance
- Proven experience in tax preparation or corporate accounting is preferred.
- Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and practices.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and accounting software and tools used for tax preparation.
- Exceptional communication skills to clearly explain financial concepts to clients.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, exceptional analytical abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles are essential.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour
