Summary
The Cable Park Staff will have a passion for Shark Wake Park and the mission to build and operate some of the best family-friendly water sports and obstacle island parks in the world. This position will also have a passion for wake boarding and teaching others by effectively communicating to our guests and being available and approachable. This position is responsible for instructing guests on how to wakeboard, kneeboard, water ski doubles and slalom, trick ski and wake skate as well as being responsible for the safe operation of our cables. This person is a team player with a positive attitude who is also energetic and enthusiastic. Must not have a fear of heights.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work will be scheduled but hours must be flexible. Weekend & Holiday work is required.
Operational Schedule:
12pm - 5pm
- Weekends: May & September
- April 18th - 27th & May 26th - 30th
10am - 7pm
- Daily: June - August
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
CABLE PARK STAFF - CUSTOMER SERVICE:
- General/On-Site Customers: Answer a variety of questions concerning SWP, policies & procedures, operations, directions, activities, and more
- Ability to actively engage and encourage participants, provide positive feedback and interaction
- Ability to provide instruction and basic tips to improve overall experience and success rate
DOCK HELP:
- Responsible for monitoring and enforcing wrist bands and expiration times
- Provide participants with general assistance, tips, and guidance for kneeboard and wakeboarding, such as how to get off the dock, how to navigate the course, where to exit the course, etc.
- Proactively manage the start dock, take off and water ways to ensure participant safety
- Retrieve fallen ropes from the water.
- Ensure cable dock and starting area remain clear of unused equipment.
- Assist in returning kneeboards, wakeboards, life jackets and helmets to the Pro Shop at the end of the day.
CABLE OPERATOR:
Perform daily opening duties:
- General upkeep of the cable park dock (spot cleaning)
- Verify maintenance logs to confirm required maintenance was performed.
- Cable Prep: setting up ropes and handles, visually checking the cable system, visually scan the waterways for any obstruction, debris or issues.
- Visually inspect the cable system before powering on the machine (MCP & cable)
- Notify MOD of any urgent issues that need immediate attention
Safety Oversight
- Daily operation and oversight of cable system and machinery
- Ability to proactively prevent personal injuries or damage to cable machinery
- Proactively manage the start dock, take off and water ways to ensure participant safety
- Enactment of emergency action plans and unexpected closures
- Responsible for monitoring and enforcing wrist bands and expiration times
Closing Duties
- Retrieve all ropes off carries, immediate water ways, power down the cable system with carrier 1 by the motor tower, and power down the machines in the MCP
- Store all ropes appropriately in storage container and return ropes to MCP
- Set damaged/questionable ropes in designated area
- Visually inspect water ways, features, and cable
- Notify MOD of any urgent areas of concern
- Clear assigned dock of trash & debris, rental equipment and return missing personal items to lost and found. Empty trash can on the cable dock.
- Lock MCP & Close Start Dock for daily assigned area
CABLE PARK MAINTENANCE
- Perform daily maintenance on cable system before opening.
- Complete maintenance log each day.
- Notify MOD of any issues or concerns.
- On-site training provided.
LESSONS
- Responsible for administering one on one private lessons.
- Must be able to successfully complete kneeboard lap riding doubles
- Must be able to provide helpful side by side coaching and assistance
- Ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for participants
- Commission is offered for cable park lessons
- On-site training is provided.

Technical
At least 1 year of experience in a customer-centric business
Education and Experience
- Must be 16 years of age
- Experience in hospitality, customer service preferred

Tools & Equipment Used
Hand tools, electric tools, and other associated equipment used in the parks and recreation structures, facilities, and projects.
Language Ability
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization. Ability to prioritize tasks according to Operations plan. Knowledge of Spanish is a plus but not mandatory.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to wet conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals, inclement weather, bright sunshine, potentially hazardous conditions on lakes, regularly required to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds, push, pull, use a wide variety of tools, lift, and climb up and down. The noise level of this position will be from moderate to loud, dependent upon the area and type of work being performed. Appropriate PPE to be worn when necessary.
