Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Lead Technical/Design Engineer to join our Engineering Department. This role will report to the Engineering Manager and serve as a key technical resource for our Technical Design team. The ideal candidate will take on leadership responsibilities, support process improvements, and work closely with company leadership on strategic projects.
This position will also assist in supporting the Engineering Manager with various projects and occasionally contribute to R&D initiatives. Over time, this role is expected to transition into an Engineering Supervisor position.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a technical lead for the Technical Design team, providing mentorship and guidance.
- Support the Engineering Manager with special projects, technical initiatives, and strategic improvements.
- Lead and contribute to the design and development of cutting tools, using CREO, AutoCAD, or a related CAD software.
- Oversee and refine processes for transferring engineering data to manufacturing, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Assist in creating and improving drawing packages, inspection reports, and other technical documentation within our ERP system.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and sales teams to troubleshoot design issues and drive continuous improvements.
- Occasionally assist in R&D efforts, supporting new product development and testing.
- Work closely with senior leadership to develop leadership skills and transition into an Engineering Supervisor role.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in a technical design, manufacturing, or engineering role.
- Proficiency in CREO, AutoCAD, or a related CAD software.
- Experience with ERP systems for engineering documentation and process management.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Leadership ability with an interest in growing into a supervisory role.
- Experience in R&D is a plus but not required.
- Experience in the cutting tool industry is a plus but not required.
