Position Overview
Camp Counselors with Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club are charged with the facilitation of an enjoyable, safe, supportive camp experience for members, collaborating interdepartmentally to engage campers through activities, communication, and safety.
Essential Functions
- Assist in planning and implementing summer camp activities.
- Foster a positive, energetic atmosphere while assessing the needs of individual campers.
- Organize activities and maintain high energy levels throughout camp.
- Communicate daily with families to provide updates on their camper’s experience.
- Prioritize accident prevention and respond to injuries or emergencies in accordance with club policies.
- Be approachable and supportive to all campers, especially those needing extra encouragement.
- Build and maintain cooperative relationships with campers and staff.
- Arrive on time for all shifts, meetings, and activities.
- Clean and properly store equipment at the end of each shift.
- Attend all staff training and meetings.
- Maintain a professional image and interact positively with members, campers, and staff.
- Greet each camper and parent with a warm welcome and learn campers' names promptly.
- Create a welcoming and nurturing environment for all participants.
- Address conflicts or behavior issues proactively to ensure a harmonious camp experience.
- Ensure cleanliness and proper usage of facilities and equipment.
Qualifications
- Certifications/Licensure
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification including First Aid, CPR, & AED preferred
- Experience/Skills
- Prior experience working with children in a group setting.
- Skills in swimming, tennis, golf, and/or arts and crafts preferred.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
This position is primarily outdoors, requiring work in varying weather conditions, including sun, heat, wind, and occasional rain. Must be comfortable working in an outdoor aquatic environment for extended periods while maintaining vigilance and ensuring the safety of all. Must be able to lift 50 lbs, as well as sit/stand for extended periods of time. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, etc.
Work Schedule and Hours
Tuesday – Friday 8:45am – 2:45pm, with some variability as needed to ensure all essential functions are met.
