Job Purpose: The Communications Manager at Sharon Heights will serve as a standout addition of the Membership and
Communications team and will make increasing contributions to the team as they get up to speed. The Communications
Manager will help promote membership, events, and important club updates across multiple communication platforms to
our members. The role will also handle administrative duties to support member committees, the Board, the COO/GM, as
directed by the Director of Membership & Communications.
The ideal candidate is a great writer, creative thinker, and motivated team player, with proven written communications
background and work experience. They must have a passion for and knowledge of the hospitality industry.
Job Summary (Essential Functions):
- Update and manage the Club database, website, mobile app, digital screens and other communication platforms.
- Create, maintain, and online registration for club events and club calendar.
- Manage media monitoring and generate daily and ad-hoc announcements.
- Draft, manages and distributes digital communication for the Club.
- Creates promotional materials for Club events and services.
- Manages digital signage around the Club.
- Collaborates with and supports all departments and organized member groups for promotional or informational material.
- Proficient written and oral communications skills and the demonstrated ability to communicate oral and written messages consistent clearly, concisely, and persuasively with Club policy to both internal and external audiences, using appropriate tone, grammar, and word usage.
- Attend special events/tournaments to take photo and/ or videos for communication materials.
- Proactively research the latest insights, tools, digital/social media platforms and best practices to advance Club communications.
- A good knowledge of communications channels including intranet, emails, newsletters, webinars, video, social
media, and digital platforms is essential. - Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree, with a major in communications, journalism or sports management preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of communications experience, preferably sports focused
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, internet search engines, design platforms, and social media programs.
- Able to learn a new data base quickly.
- Produce well thought-out, professional correspondence free of grammatical and spelling errors.
- Demonstrable experience of providing excellent customer service.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail a must.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Work Schedule and Hours:
- Monday-Friday, occasional one weekend day/holiday.
- Must be flexible if needed for occasional work outside of normal business hours (i.e. special member events)
- Holidays required.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Must be able to lift 20 lbs., as well as sit for extended periods of time.
Pay Rate: This is a salaried position ranging from $70,000 - $85,000 annually. Varies based on experience.
