Position Overview
The Dive Coach will provide an organized, engaging, developmental, and fun dive program for club members and their children, emphasizing skill building, safety, and enjoyment. The primary focus will be on enhancing the diving skills of our summer swim team members who wish to explore diving.
Essential Functions
- Implement and uphold the swim and dive team philosophy, focusing on safety, enjoyment, and skill development during practices and competitions.
- Organize and oversee dive team during Sunday meets. Set the competition lineup and ensure the safety and well-being of all divers during events.
- Plan and conduct dive practices for various age groups. Adapt practices to meet the skill levels and needs of all divers.
- Create daily, weekly, and seasonal practice plans that balance technical skill development with fun, ensuring that each session is both educational and enjoyable.
- Design and offer a schedule of private and group diving lessons that provides adequate availability for members while maintaining a high-quality learning environment.
- Promote and support safe diving practices and ensure a safe environment at all times, setting high standards for conduct both in and out of the water.
- Deliver all member services in a highly professional and efficient manner, ensuring a positive experience for all participants.
- Regularly communicate with clubhouse management regarding pool conditions, diving board status, member feedback, and scheduled events.
- Maintain organization within the coach's office, ensuring all administrative tasks, including time sheets and dive lesson records are maintained accurately and submitted on time.
- Foster a collaborative environment by positively interacting with staff and members, contributing to a cohesive and supportive team atmosphere.
Qualifications
- Licensure/Certifications
- Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications and successfully complete a background check to ensure safety and compliance with club policies.
- Experience/Skills
- Previous experience leading and instructing dive courses in various environments.
- Strong knowledge of dive theory and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and teaching skills to instruct divers of all skill levels.
- Strong swimming ability.
- Strong problem-solving and quick decision making skills.
Work Environment
This position is primarily outdoors, requiring work in varying weather conditions, including sun, heat, wind, and occasional rain. Must be comfortable working in an outdoor aquatic environment for extended periods while maintaining vigilance and ensuring the safety of all. Must be able to lift 50 lbs, as well as sit/stand for extended periods of time. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, etc.
