What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher- Sharon Middle School, LEAP Program position at Sharon Middle School?
The Sharon Public Schools is seeking a certified Special Education Teacher for the Language Based Extension for Academic Progress (LEAP) Program, a full inclusion special education program at Sharon Middle School.
This is a full-time teaching position beginning August 25, 2025
- Grade 7
LEAP is a program designed for students with language-based learning needs. Students in this program require specific remediation, modifications, and accommodations due to significant language-based reading disabilities. The teacher will be responsible for teaching and supporting reading and writing as well as executive functioning skills.
Responsibilities of the Special Education teacher include but is not limited to:
- Direct instruction in an Academic Lab setting (Learning Center)
- Co-teaching core academic subjects
- Modifying curriculum as appropriate
- IEP development, progress reporting, and evaluations as necessary
- Facilitate annual review meetings and complete all necessary IEP paperwork
- Act as case manager/liaison between school and home
- Collaborate with related service providers to provide a cohesive service delivery

MA DESE Licensure in Moderate Disabilities required.
Experience with Wilson Reading System and 3 years of related work is preferred.
Salary based on experience in accordance with the Sharon Teachers Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
