ECC Teacher
The Sharon Public Schools is seeking an Early Childhood Special Education Classroom Teacher.
The early childhood special education teacher provides educational services to
children ages 3-5 years in an integrated preschool setting. Some children will be
newly diagnosed with cognitive, language, social, emotional, behavioral or
physical challenges.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Provide instruction for diverse learners, understand instructional planning, demonstrate knowledge of content and development and create a classroom environment that is safe, structured and that promotes development and learning.
- Collaborate with other teachers, Instructional Assistants, therapists' and families.
- Assesses students' functional capabilities and / or classroom environment for the purpose of determining student's functional levels and developing recommendations for placement.
- Communicates with students and / or parents with teachers and / or other personnel for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems, establishing effective relationships, and / or resolving conflicts.
- Prepares and facilitates IEP Meetings in conjunction with the ECC Director, as appropriate for the purpose of presenting information, developing skills, and establishing effective relationships, including the active engagement of all members.
- Supports the development of IEPs through the review of IEP documents and academic assessment reports prior to sending the documents to the family.
- Maintains confidentiality of all information for the purpose of protection of students, staff, parents, and district. Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars as assigned for the purpose of conveying and / or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Researches resources and methods (e.g. intervention and treatment techniques, assessment tools and methods, community resources, etc.) for the purpose of determining the appropriate approach for addressing students' functional goals and needs
MA Teacher Licensure required.
Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities PreK-2; PreK-8
Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities PreK-2; All
A Master's Degree and experience with young children who present with learning, communication and social, emotional and / or behavioral
challenges is preferred.
