Job Title: IT Security Analyst
Location: Herndon, VA (Hybrid - Remote with weekly office visits if within 50 miles)

Job Summary:

A leading company in national security, defense, cybersecurity, and cloud is seeking an IT Security Analyst to enhance and protect critical information systems. This role involves implementing security measures, mitigating risks, developing security policies, and proactively hunting for threats using investigative tools and frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK.
Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and mitigate security risks across systems and networks.
• Develop, implement, and optimize security policies and detection logic.
• Analyze logs from various sources, including endpoints, applications, and cloud environments.
• Conduct vulnerability testing, security audits, and ensure compliance with security frameworks.
• Collaborate with teams to operationalize cyber threat intelligence.

Qualifications:

• 5 years of cybersecurity experience.
• 3 years in detection engineering, threat hunting, or incident response.
• Strong understanding of network, protocol, and host-level security fundamentals.
• Experience with SIEM platforms, MITRE ATT&CK, and adversarial TTP testing.
• Proficiency in analyzing logs and investigating security incidents.

Preferred Skills:

• Red teaming or penetration testing experience.
• Cloud security and DevOps expertise.
• Ability to translate technical cybersecurity issues into business risk language.
