Title: Grocery Supervisor - Dry Grocery

Reporting Structure: Report to Store Manager

Summary/Overview:

• Provides leadership in the Dry Grocery Department overseeing all functions from unloading trucks, prepping and pricing merchandise and placing on retail sales floor. Directly responsible for ordering dry grocery products from Distribution warehouse. Effectively trains and supervises all Dry Grocery Dept. associates.

Essential Job Functions:

• Direct all dry stocking operations including: unloading trucks, receiving goods, case cutting and pricing products, transporting products from warehouse to retail sales floor, merchandising products in retail area.
• Exercise honesty, integrity, and respect with all customers and co-workers.
• Train staff, monitor productivity.
• Weekly ordering products from Sharp Shopper distribution warehouse.
• Oversees receiving procedures to insure the right product / amounts are received.
• Maintains store product levels at or above company standards and directs product placement in retail area.
• Understand, observe and enforce all company policies.
• Directs proper product rotation and price reductions.
• Promotes and maintains safe work environment in warehouse and retail area. Enforces store sanitary and safety standards including OSHA requirements.
• Oversees cleaning and organization of warehouse.
• Must be able to handle and operate manual pallet jack, electric pallet jack, forklift, U-cart, cardboard baler, box cutter, all in a safe manner.
• Must be able to handle and operate pricing gun, telephone and calculator.
• Misc other duties as assigned by Managers.

Qualifications:

• Good interpersonal skills and desire to work in a team environment.
• Must be able to speak, read and write English well enough to take inventory, process orders and effectively communicate with team members, Managers and vendors.
• Food safety, Blood Borne Pathogen, First Aid, SDS training completed.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service to a diverse customer base.
• Tolerance for stress and the ability to accept/adapt to change.
• Supervision skills including managerial courage, organizational skills and effective communication skills.
• Arithmetic skills
• Good judgment and common sense.
• Must be available to work Saturdays and evenings as required. Flexible work schedule may be required.
• Must be able to fulfill the physical requirement of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
• If using power equipment including electric jack, forklift & baler, must 18 years old and trained. Must be able to operate in a safe manner.

Working Conditions:

• Works in store warehouse and on retail sales floor.
• Will experience some dusty and dirty conditions, will stand or walk on concrete floors and vinyl commercial tile floors for extended periods of time.
• Work in close proximity to co-workers and customers.
• Daily exposure to all store activities
• May be required to work in other departments as directed by Managers. May include intermittent work outdoors (returning shopping carts, picking up trash etc). May include work in cold environment such as cooler or freezer.

Job Type: Full-time
