SUMMARY
The primary function of this position is to deliver excellent service while always representing the company in a professional and courteous manner.
Route Service Tech is to comply with all DOT, and state regulations as well as all company safety and compliance policies regarding the operation of the 26 ft. straight truck, the weight of the load, hours worked or performing any service or function on behalf of our company.
Also responsible for servicing assigned accounts in the most efficient and professional manner possible, ensuring that Internal and external customers' needs for various waste pickup and supply delivery are met on a continuous basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Early start time.
- Plans daily schedule based on customers’ needs by reviewing daily paperwork, e.g., manifest, route sheets.
- Review truck loads to service select accounts for the day ensuring enough supplies are loaded.
- Ensures waste, supplies, and material handling equipment are secured prior to operating vehicle on public roadways and highways.
- Pick up and transport waste safely according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
- Pick up specified waste from each customer site scheduled for the day, ensuring that customers have packaged and prepared the waste according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations before transporting.
- Provide the highest level of customer service to assigned accounts daily, communicating any issues to Transportation Manager/Supervisor or Dispatcher for resolution.
- Ensures that assigned paperwork is completed legibly, neatly, accurately, and completely and returned to Transportation Supervisor or Dispatcher for processing.
- Ensures DOT Driver Log is completed, if applicable.
- Performs pre-trip and post-trip maintenance on assigned truck prior to leaving or closing for the day. Reports any maintenance problems for follow-up.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Maintains current required driver’s license, with an excellent driving record. CDL Class “B” preferred but not required.
- Clean MVR
- Completion of an accredited driving school, or one or more years of Commercial Driving experience required.
- Maintains current Medical Examiner’s Certification (MEC).
- Must be flexible and able to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment and be detail oriented.
- Proficiency utilizing technology i.e. GPS and Handheld Devices for ELD logs, electronic DVIR, and electronic customer records.
- Must work safely and carefully to prevent injury to self and others while driving, loading, and unloading vehicle. Requires constant mental and visual attention relative to the safe operation of the vehicle.
- Must be able to push/pull up to 150 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently.
- May require mandatory immunizations and credentialing based on customer requirements.

- High school diploma or equivalent
