What are the responsibilities and job description for the Math Academic Tutor position at Sharyland Independent School District?
Position Summary
Provide supplemental practice and learning support to students to aide in targeted skill development. Use interventions as guided by campus administration and conduct individual and small group sessions as needed to support students.
Education/Certification
High school diploma or GED.
Must be enrolled as a student in an accredited college or university.
Experience
Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience
Special Knowledge/Skills
Experience working with children in an educational setting
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Basic knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Follow teacher lesson plans and present information and instruction to help students learn subject matter and skills.
- Collaborate with campus teachers and administration to support successful academic implementation.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Work with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Be a positive role model for students and support the school district’s mission.
- Ensure confidentiality of all student records, test scores, and personal information.
- Maintain an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students' physical, social, and emotional development.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain records and other documents required.
- Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
