Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Laboratory Professional to join our team at Shasta Regional Medical Center. As a member of our clinical laboratory, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care by performing a wide range of laboratory procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform waived, moderate, or highly complex tests authorized by CLIA, adhering to laboratory procedures for collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
- Follow established quality control policies and procedures in documenting corrective actions when test systems deviate from performance specifications.
- Identify problems affecting test performance and correct them or notify your supervisor, Director, or Medical Director immediately.
- Use independent judgment to perform laboratory procedures using manual and automated methods in Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and other disciplines.
- Maintain instruments and equipment as needed, ensuring accuracy of patient results before releasing or reporting them.
- Recognize age-specific differences in expected results for newborns to geriatrics, and ensure proficiency testing samples are tested similarly to patient samples.
Requirements
- Minimum one-year work experience in hematology, chemistry, blood bank, and microbiology, or training at an approved internship program.
- Bachelor's Degree in biological science, chemical, physical, biological science, Medical Laboratory Technology, or equivalent from an accredited institution.
