Position Overview
Shaw Industries is looking for an EHS Technician to support Samples EHS operations by completing critical tasks designed to promote compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety regulations, Shaw Management Systems, requirements and general industry Best Practice. The hours of this position will be 9am-6pm and will be based in Dalton, GA.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the Samples Division Safety and Environmental program is maintained and that all concerns are dealt with quickly and appropriately.
- Work with plant maintenance to ensure that all safety and environmental work orders are completed on a timely basis.
- Participate in or lead the Incident Investigation process.
- Perform routine plant walkthroughs and issue corrective actions as needed.
- Assist EHS Manager with the management of Hazardous Waste.
- Participate in facility safety programs and learning activities.
- Facilitate training and review content of facility EHS training as requested by facility Training Department.
- Perform SAFE system compliance audits and tasks which include the following: Fire systems (riser checks, fire door, extinguishers, sprinkler inspections, alarms, exits, evacuation maps, etc. Ladder inspections, Eyewash and Shower inspections, Fall protection equipment, PIT inspections, LOTO Audit Form, Noise monitoring, Hoist and Gantry inspections, Confined Space reviews
- Perform Environmental system compliance audits and tasks which may include the following: SPCC inspections, SWPPP inspections, Waste storage and accumulation area inspections. Responsible for . the waste logs and inventory. ACM inspections, Chemical Storage/containment/spill equipment inspections, Coordination of wastewater sampling, Pollution control equipment inspections, Coordinate shipments of facility non-hazardous, hazardous and universal chemical waste.
- Coordinate visits related to the safety eye glass program and the safety shoe program.
- Demonstrate safe work practices and avoid unsafe behaviors.
- Perform additional functions to promote health and safety activities.
Requirements:
- Proficiency to operate in a PC, windows based, environment; must have knowledge of Microsoft and Google applications.
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to other facilities as needed.
- Must be able to achieve certification to drive Powered Industrial Trucks and company vehicles.
- Must be able to achieve certification for training Fall Protection and Material Handling classes.
- Excellent communication skills
- Exceptional listening, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work overtime as needed, including weekends
- Must have high school diploma or GED
Preferred Skills:
- Working knowledge of all SAFE system programs, the Environmental Handbook and SMS.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
