Position Overview
The Sustainability Reporting Manager plays a critical role in building an effective reporting program that meets new and evolving regulatory requirements associated with the enterprise level environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting activities of Shaw Industries. This role is responsible for building the internal reporting architecture to comply with relevant frameworks and global regulations, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of ESG data and performance metrics as well as influencing the organization’s sustainability strategy. The Sustainability Reporting Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams, business partners, stakeholders, and external partners to drive sustainability initiatives and enhance transparency efforts at Shaw. The Sustainability Reporting Manager will report to Shaw’s Chief Sustainability & Innovation Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement ESG reporting frameworks and methodologies, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and guidelines such as EU CSRD, TCFD, GRI, and SASB, among others.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret ESG data, metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to generate comprehensive reports, presentations, and disclosures for internal and external stakeholders.
- Spearhead materiality assessments and/or double materiality assessments (on appropriate frequency) to align and report on the most significant ESG issues for the company.
- Ï Coordinate external assurance (limited & reasonable, as applicable) of ESG reporting data via approved third-party providers to meet global requirements, in collaboration with Shaw’s internal audit team.
- Ï Work closely with sustainability leadership to influence and augment the organization's ESG strategy, goals, and targets aligned with industry best practices and stakeholder expectations.
- Engage with internal business partners, Berkshire Hathaway, and other ESG-related agencies to communicate the organization's ESG performance and respond to inquiries.
- Stay abreast of emerging ESG trends, regulations (in collaboration with Shaw’s corporate legal compliance team), and reporting frameworks, serving as a resource for the enterprise regarding global reporting requirements and best practices.
- Develop effective reporting process controls, document relevant methodology, and seek continuous improvement in the organization's ESG reporting and disclosure practices.
- Collaborate with internal resources to effectively communicate sustainability reporting requirements, Shaw’s accomplishments, and relevant information. Provide training, communication, and support.
- Represent Shaw in external forums, conferences, and events related to sustainability reporting.
- Ï Travel to customer locations to support sales force engagements with key customers related to reporting requirements.
- Provide technical support to RFP and sales teams for sustainability reporting-related questions.
Minimum Experience Requirements:
- 4-year degree (Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability Studies, Finance, Economics, Social Sciences, or related field)
- 5 years relevant work experience (preference for a corporate environment)
- 3 years of relevant sustainability reporting experience (preference for a corporate environment)
- Ability to travel domestically (15%)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidential business information
- Ability to manage ambiguity effectively
- Ability to understand major enterprise and business issues and challenges
- Ability to understand and translate complex regulatory requirements into simple terms
- Ability to lead and influence a team of cross-divisional internal leaders
