What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax Accountant position at Shaw Industries Group, Inc.?
POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are looking for a detail oriented and self-motivated individual to become a leader in Shaw’s fast-paced, dynamic, diverse, and innovative Corporate Tax Department. The Tax Accountant III will assist the Tax Department in all functions related to domestic and international income and franchise taxation and sales and use tax for Shaw Industries Group, Inc., subsidiaries, and related entities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- On a timely and accurate basis, this Accountant will assist in the preparation and review of the income and franchise tax returns of Shaw Industries Group, Inc. and related entities, including but not limited to the following: consolidated federal income tax return, separate company and combined state income tax, franchise tax, excise tax and similar returns, U.S. reporting regarding foreign corporations including compliance-related forms and information-reporting forms, foreign local currency tax returns, annual reports and registrations.
- Assist in the calculation, preparation, and review of all federal, state and foreign estimated payments and extensions.
- Assist with tax audits by gathering information requested by auditors, reviewing auditors’ proposed adjustments and documenting conclusions for Tax Manager’s review.
- Review and draft responses to notices from the IRS, state and foreign departments of revenue on a timely basis for Tax Manager’s review.
- Responsible for the preparation of the quarterly and annual domestic income tax provisions (including schedules and workpapers) required under ASC 740, which includes analysis of deferred income taxes, identification, analysis and quantification of income tax contingencies for FIN 48 analysis and validation of all income tax related accounts on the financial statements.
- Research and document tax related issues and propose solutions or other actions to Tax Manager.
- Follow legislative updates and determine the applicability to company’s business activities.
- Assist outside transfer pricing providers and coordinate the preparation of and information gathering for international transfer pricing studies focusing on supporting U.S. and international intercompany transactions.
- Analyze and manage intercompany agreements, assisting with financial analysis, and offering general assistance on projects.
- Maintain compliance with multi-jurisdictional business transactions as well as coordinating U.S. tax laws with foreign tax laws.
- Assist with the development and coaching of other Tax Department personnel.
- Review and assist with monthly sales and use tax returns.
- Work with the sales and use tax department on audits and special projects.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $88,000.00 per year
