Accounting Manager
Salaried Exempt
The Accounting Manager will manage the execution of accounts payable, month-end close, sales tax returns, account analysis and
reconciliations, financial reporting, and special projects as assigned by the Controller.
Essential Job Functions:
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures, including the preparation and
validation of journal entries, supporting backup and account reconciliations.
• Perform flux analysis for balance sheet and income statement, investigate questions and
provide Controller detailed explanations.
• Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and
maintaining strong employee relationships.
• Oversee and execute completion of all close processes timely and ensuring compliance with
U.S. GAAP, and company policy and procedures.
• Take ownership of general ledger operations and processes related to Assets, Recurring
Liabilities, and Equity & Complex Accounts.
• Account for inventory under US GAAP and in accordance with company accounting policies
and collaborate with Controller on appropriate accounting for inventory transactions.
• Perform inventory analysis to determine appropriate reserve and methodologies for
excess/obsolete/slow-moving inventory and understand and observe physical inventory
processes and counts.
• Perform analysis and provide insight into account balance details and drivers of change,
particularly around COGS.
• Act as the strategic partner to finance leadership in driving & streamlining process
improvements within expenses close process.
• Compile statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing reports for management.
• Work closely with the Company's external auditors on related controls and manage annual
audit requirements.
• Coordinate external and internal audits, including preparing audit schedules, updating the
notes to the financial statements, coordinating audit timeline, and facilitating audit requests.
• Coordinate special projects and assignments, including inventory, actuarial reports, etc.
• Work on special projects as needed.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• MBA or other advance degree preferred
Training and Experience:
• 7 years of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role
• Previous accounting experience in budgeting, fixed asset management and/or financial reporting
• Previous experience with financial systems
• Must be able to pass Title 31 Training
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Strong business acumen and sufficient Financial Accounting knowledge to be able to understand impact on P&L from reporting
• Leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results
• Knowledge of employee relationship building and performance management techniques
• Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve and perform research/analysis on complex issues
• Ability to prioritize and work independently
• Advanced computer literacy with specific proficiency in Word and Excel
• Exhibit strong analytical and critical thinking skills with strong detail focus
• Must have initiative to work independently, with little or no direct supervision
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to relate problems and translate solutions in a manner that can easily be understood by internal
customers, team members and management
• Self-motivated with the ability to operate independently, work proactively, and achieve
results without close supervision
• Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Licenses/Certifications/Other:
• Must be able to pass a background check and receive/maintain a license or permit from the
Shawnee Tribe’s Gaming Commission
• Must be able to complete pre-employment drug test with a negative result
Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00
(occasional weekends)
40 Hour work week
Salary : $57,988 - $90,690
