Shawnee Health is seeking a Family Support Specialist for our Shawnee Health Shawnee Alliance Carterville office. This position reports directly to the Healthy Families Program Coordinator.
Responsibilities
- Support parents in developing healthy attachments and positive parent-child interactions following standards and guidance set by our accrediting organization, Healthy Families America.
- Provide ongoing, intensive, home-based parent education and support, including referral and linkage to community services, crisis, and case management support to assigned families with children birth to age 5.
- Document activities, interactions, and progress for each family, maintaining current/up-to-date participant records for all assigned families.
- Administer assigned tools, including developmental screenings at set intervals and refer children to early intervention services if delays are identified or suspected.
- Ensure that immunizations and well child checks are completed for assigned children and provides occasional transportation to family medical appointments
- Assist with planning, coordinating, and implementing small and large group socialization events with participants.
- Assist with the creation and distribution of participant outreach materials, including program newsletters and educational supplements.
- Participate in community events to promote Healthy Families and Shawnee Health programs, including but not limited to Child Abuse awareness events and Health Fairs.
- Demonstrate a commitment to principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in all aspects of work.
Requirements
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license and auto liability insurance on personal vehicle (position requires use of personal vehicle to complete home visits).
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, or related field and some experience working with young children and families is required.
- Two or more years’ experience in early childhood and/or parent education is preferred.
- Bi-lingual candidates will be strongly considered for this position.
Salary Range - $43,888 - $46,561; Exceptional experience may warrant higher compensation.
