Job Summary
Serves as Deli Associate for the retail convenience store and performs these functions in a self-sufficient and competent manner necessary to meet all health code regulations and to be pleasing to consumers. The Deli Associate has primary responsibility for the kitchen area of the store with the support of other store personnel.
Job Requirements
1. Perform daily Market opening duties including turning on lights, resetting alarms, and preparing cash register drawers.
2. Responsible for coffee preparation and prepping for the day
3. Prepare deli food items such as triangle sandwiches, salads and other items for the food case.
4. Prepare items for sub sandwiches.
5. Regularly monitor coffee and soft drink bar. This includes drinking cups, lids, sugar, various creamers, and coffee bean grinder.
6. Responsible for cleanliness of kitchen preparation area.
7. Monitor deli case to ascertain what items to refill and/or expiration dates. Refill as necessary to keep deli case filled at all times.
8. Prepare and maintain current list of items needed from walk-in cooler and outside freezer to prevent random and unnecessary trips to either area. While in walk-in cooler, monitors drink area and restock and/or straighten product as necessary.
9. Inventory product for the following day’s deli and meal preparation, pull all necessary product from either the freezer and/or walk-in cooler and place on food storage cart where it will remain in the walk-in cooler until the following morning.
10. Prepare all luncheon items according to the menu provided by the Manager, either from scratch or using prepackaged items requiring only reheating.
11. Monitor the hot case and restock with luncheon items as necessary. Maintain cleanliness of the hot case. Closely monitor temperatures of hot case to maintain required temperatures necessary to meet health code regulations.
12. Wash, sanitize and dry dishes as needed and before shift end
13. Clean and sanitize deep fryer weekly. Clean grill daily before leaving for shift.
14. Restock cooler items.
15. Assist customers making purchases. Operate the credit card machine to accept credit card payment for purchases. Monitor gas pumps for potential drive-away.
16. Empty trashcans and remove excess cardboard from kitchen area, display areas and restrooms. Stock paper/soap dispensers in restrooms as needed. Maintain clean counters in restrooms by removing excess water and soap residue. Sweep and wet-mop restroom floors.
17. May perform other duties as directed by the Manager or Supervisor to ensure the successful operation of the Market.
18. Complete PASS Training Operator C certification

Additional Qualifications
· High School diploma or GED
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Minimum two years deli and meal preparation experience.
2. Ability to deal effectively with the public.
3. Ability to make change correctly.
4. Ability to follow oral and written directions.
