Serves as a resource and provides guidance to management and associates on issues that arise in the workplace by interpreting, applying, and administering company policies, labor contracts, and labor and employment laws. Works closely with management on associate recruitment, selection, succession planning, education, and development.
Coordinates and conducts internal investigations and handles grievances under the direction of in-house counsel and leadership. Answers questions, resolves problems, responds to administrative charges, hotlines, FMLA and ADA advice, and serves as facilitator to reach resolution. Responsible for the day-to-day administrative support for assigned HR programs such as, benefits, unemployment, payroll, associate files, and computerized records maintenance.
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Works closely with management on employee recruitment, selection, succession planning, education, and development.
- Provides support, guidance and education to location Personnel Coordinators and District Talent Lead Coordinators.
- Advises management on discipline and policy interpretation regarding all actions affecting pay, promotions, transfers, disciplinary action and all other HR functions (payroll, benefits, employee relations, compensation, labor relations).
- Conducts research and prepares required analysis, reports, and documentation for meetings, information requests from regulatory agencies, and general communication issues with the unions and/or management.
- Works with management to respond to employee matters that can be resolved within company policy, procedures and/or union contracts.
- Works with management and employees to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and other legally required accommodations and facilitates employee placement.
- Coordinates investigations of grievances, discrimination complaints, wage and hour issues, and hotline calls.
- Reviews Loss Prevention investigative reports and makes recommendations to management on course of action.
- Provides assistance in contract negotiations by conducting research, compiling information and documentation, and providing advice and insight on trends to be addressed with union.
- Monitors compliance training, HR policies and procedures communication, and management development training
- Research, resolves, or escalates issues related to payroll, HRIS and benefits
- Make recommendations on compensation and rates
- Focuses on moderately complex Human Resources issues, problems, or projects such as coordinating recruiting/selection, turnover analysis/retention, data analysis
- Other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- College degree in business, human resources, labor relations, behavioral sciences or equivalent preferred
- 5 years plus experience in Human Resources and/or Labor Relations, Employee/Associate Relations or equivalent
- Ability and desire to assist in sourcing and developing the best associates to delight our customers
- Experience in administering labor contracts, creating, and interpreting policies and managing legal compliance
- Interpersonal and business skills to develop and maintain effective business relationships
- Proven planning, organizing and leadership skills
- Possess research, analysis, strategic and assessment abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Possess management skills and the ability to motivate and work with others to achieve desired results
- Possess basic PC skills and desktop applications
- Able to identify reoccurring problems and recommend solutions
- Flexibility, enthusiasm, and passion for the business

- Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.

- Position may require some travel, including occasional overnight/weekend travel.
