Location : West Valley
The function of this position is to manage a team of Field Managers, to direct and accept accountability for home building activities. The Construction Manager is responsible for the coordination of all activities within the new home construction process. The Construction Manager shall be responsible for optimizing the effectiveness of Trades, ensuring compliance with Shea Homes home buyer satisfaction and quality assurance standards, and maintaining a safe work environment. Additionally, the Construction Manager will mentor Senior Field Managers in their roles toward promotion to Construction Manager.
Knowledge / Experience for Construction Manager
- High school diploma or equivalent required; BA / BS degree preferred
- Proficient in facilitating all facets of construction
- Multilingual skills preferred

- Coordinate community start-up and model construction
- Monitor and correct Trade performance
- Successfully analyze plot plans to identify inaccuracies including but not limited to correct lot usage, grading requirements, retaining walls, and foundation steps
- Effectively delegate responsibilities to direct reports
- Knowledge of subdivision declarations (covenants, controls and restrictions)
- Develop, mentor and train field construction staff
- Develop and review IDP / IPA performance appraisals for Field Managers
- Work with Customer Service and Sales Departments to identify opportunities for community improvement
- Able to supervise a complex project at a high production pace
- Able to coordinate large projects involving multiple entities
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of all residential construction techniques
- Have a basic understanding of engineering principles and geotechnical issues
- Conduct bi-weekly onsite Trade meetings to ensure compliance of all Trade requirements
- Support and display alignment with division goals and procedures
- Take full responsibility for the professionalism of the community team members
- Verify and identify that all structural options in the home are installed correctly
- Active in improving quality through open communication and data collection
- Possess the ability to manage and analyze construction budgets
- Help in the selection of new Trades
