Job Title: Field Safety Technician
Location: Danville, VA
Duration: 3 - 6 months
Type: 1099 Contractor
Compensation:
Hourly Rate: $48/hr
Per Diem: $2,500/month
Pay: Weekly
Schedule:
Hours: 50 - 60 hours/week | Shift: 0700 - 1700 | Monday - Friday (Some Saturdays required)
Project Scope:
Solar installation project
Safety oversight for trenching, underground utilities, electrical systems, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 5 years of field safety experience in construction or utilities
Certifications: OSHA 500 required
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections and ensure compliance with regulatory and client safety standards
Provide new hire orientations and ongoing site-specific safety training
Monitor trenching, electrical, and LOTO operations to ensure safe execution
Review and manage daily safety documentation, permits, and toolbox talks
Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions
Enforce safety practices across all trades and contractors on-site
Serve as a liaison between field teams and project management for all safety-related concerns
Skills:
Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and industry best practices
Excellent communication and leadership abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Capable of working independently in a fast-paced field environment
Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of solar construction, trench safety, electrical hazards, and Lockout/Tagout procedures
