Project Scope
Regional oversight of safety programs for a steel fabricator/erector. This role involves field audits, safety training, enforcement of safety protocols, and collaboration with site and executive teams. Expect hands-on involvement in crane safety, fall protection, steel erection sequencing, welding hazards, and job hazard analysis (JHA) reviews.
Schedule & Travel
Hours: 40-45 per week
Days: Monday-Friday (occasional Saturdays)
Travel: Local/Regional - up to 30%
Project Load: 1-2 concurrent projects within the region
Required Qualifications
OSHA 510 and OSHA 500
First Aid/CPR Certification
5 years of combined safety experience in construction and/or manufacturing
5 years of direct experience with steel fabrication and erection projects
Reporting Structure
You'll report directly to the VP of Preconstruction and the Safety Director, supporting and advising field teams and project leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct regular site safety inspections and JHA reviews
Implement and enforce company and OSHA safety standards
Lead training and toolbox talks focused on high-risk tasks (rigging, welding, working at heights, etc.)
Oversee LOTO programs, fall protection, and crane operations safety
Serve as point-of-contact for incident investigations and root cause analysis
Collaborate with operations and site superintendents to pre-plan safety protocols
Maintain all required documentation, audit logs, and safety reporting
Core Competencies
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple sites and influence frontline workers
Deep understanding of OSHA standards, steel erection safety, and hazard controls
Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in identifying and solving safety challenges
Proficient with Microsoft Office and digital safety management platforms
