Job Details:

• Job Title: Construction Safety Manager
• Location: Johnstown, OH
• Duration: 3-6 Months (Start: 2/17/2025)
• Type: 1099 Contractor

Compensation:

• Hourly Rate: $50-$60/hr
• Per Diem: $130/day worked if over 50 miles from Johnstown, OH
• Completion Bonus: $150/month for workers' compensation expenses
• Pay: Weekly

Schedule:

• Work Days: M-TH, 1st shift. 40 hours, 3 11's and a 7.

Project Scope:

You will oversee the safety of an electrical contractor building a high-security fence around an AEP substation and continuing the substation construction. Responsibilities include:

• Job Safety Analyses (JSAs)
• Site Walks
• Audits
• Safety enforcement

Qualifications:

• Experience: 5 years in construction safety management with substation experience
• Required Certifications:
  • 4-year degree in Occupational Health & Safety plus 2 years of experience, OR
  • OSHA 500/510 certifications plus 5 years of safety experience with electrical utilities, OR
  • BCSP Certification
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certifications
• Other Requirements: Candidates must have individual Worker's Compensation coverage. At project completion, you will be compensated $150/month for workers' comp expenses to cover upfront costs.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

• Conduct project safety inspections and employee orientations.
• Provide safety training as needed.
• Monitor worksite employees and enforce safety practices.
• Review and manage safety-related documentation and contractor correspondence.
• Perform additional EHS-related tasks as required.

Skills & Knowledge:

• Skills:

  • Excellent public speaking and communication abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • OSHA outreach training experience (a plus)
  • Professionalism and confidentiality in handling sensitive information

• Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of EHS and industry regulatory standards in construction
  • Effective communication of EHS principles
