Job Title : Safety Manager
Location : Michigan City, MI
Duration : 7-9 months
Start Date : Beginning of March
Type : 1099 Contractor
Compensation :
Hourly Rate : $49-$52 / hour
Per Diem : No Per Diem
Pay Schedule : Weekly
Schedule :
Monday to Friday : (4) 10-hour shifts | (1) 8-hour shift
Project Scope : Reconstruction of a dam
Safety management for a workforce of 40-60 employees | Heavy civil and maritime construction | EM 385 compliance | Continuous improvement of site regulatory compliance
Qualifications :
At least 5 years of Safety Management / Construction experience
OSHA 510 certification
Experience with heavy civil projects (highway or industrial)
Preferred : Maritime experience | SSHO experience with EM 385 procedures
Principal Duties & Responsibilities :
Lead project safety inspections and employee safety orientations
Develop and deliver safety training programs tailored to the project's needs
Drive compliance with site-specific safety protocols and EM 385 standards
Conduct hazard assessments and risk mitigation strategies
Review and maintain safety documentation and contractor correspondence
Implement EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) standards and regulatory procedures
Skills :
Strong public speaking and communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Professionalism and confidentiality in handling sensitive information
Knowledge :
In-depth understanding of EHS practices, OSHA standards, and construction safety regulations
Expertise in communicating industry-specific safety protocols effectively
