Job Title: Field Safety Manager - Construction | Long Island, NY
Location: Melville, Long Island, NY
Duration: 2-4 months (Starting January 6, 2025)
Type: 1099 Contractor
Compensation:
• Hourly Rate: $55 - $60/hr (Based on Experience)
• Per Diem: No Per Diem
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Project Scope:
Manage on-site safety for the replacement of a skylight panel system in a building's 2-story atrium. The project includes some drywall modifications and sprinkler head adjustments near the soffit below the skylight. This role requires comfort working at heights and ensuring safe operations involving boom lifts, scissor lifts, and fall protection systems.
Qualifications & Experience:
- At least 5 years of construction safety & OSHA 510 Certification.
- Must have hands-on experience with boom lifts, scissor lifts, and fall protection systems.
- Ability to work comfortably at heights in atrium and skylight replacement settings.
- NYC SST Certification is a plus.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee and enforce safety compliance on-site during the skylight panel replacement project.
- Conduct daily safety inspections, toolbox talks, and job hazard assessments.
- Ensure proper use of fall protection, boom lifts, and scissor lifts for all personnel.
- Monitor subcontractors' work to guarantee adherence to safety protocols.
- Assist in incident reporting, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with project managers and trades to promote a culture of safety first.
- Document all safety activities, audits, and safety-related observations accurately.
Skills:
- Strong working knowledge of fall protection systems, aerial lift operations, and OSHA regulations.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to guide trades and subcontractors in safe work practices.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a proactive safety presence on-site.
- Familiarity with construction safety documentation and reporting requirements.
Travel Expectations: On-site presence required in Melville, Long Island, NY. No per diem is offered for this role.
