Type: Direct Hire (W2)
Compensation:
- Salary: $110,000 - $120,000/year
- Additional Compensation: Open to a per diem (5-10% of salary)
- Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision
Schedule:
- Hours: 1st shift, 4 10's and 1 8 hour shift, M-F
Project Scope:
This role involves supporting a bridge expansion project providing access to a government facility at Wallops Island. The expanded bridge will connect to NASA's launch pad and accommodate larger vehicles than the current bridge can support.
The Safety Specialist II will provide field support services, assist in implementing safety policies and procedures, and drive compliance with regulatory standards. This role also focuses on continually improving company and client safety performance in alignment with core values.
Qualifications:
- Certifications: OSHA 30

Experience:
- 5 years in construction safety
- 5 years in safety management
- Heavy civil, highway, or industrial construction experience required
- Maritime experience preferred
- SSHO experience managing EM385 preferred
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce and eliminate workplace injuries, illnesses, and incidents.
- Provide training and education on safety and health requirements.
- Support pre-job safety planning meetings and develop emergency response plans.
- Lead safety meetings and training programs to communicate policies and procedures effectively.
- Conduct and document safety and health audits, inspections, and behavioral observations.
- Investigate workplace incidents and facilitate corrective and preventative actions.
- Coordinate project safety programs with subcontractors and vendors.
- Develop work safety and health plans in fast-paced environments.
Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other state/federal safety regulations.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize independently.
- Ability to influence and enforce safety measures effectively in a high-production environment.
- Proficiency in identifying and resolving safety concerns proactively.
