The VLT Packaging Technician provides safety, manufacturing and customer service-based leadership to achieve outstanding business results on a specific production system or process.  This position leverages continuous improvement tools, coaching skills, technical abilities, individual skills, and enhanced teamwork to reduce waste and drive out losses in a specific area of accountability.  The Packaging Technician is the owner of the Centerline CIL and Defect Processes, daily Packaging Line Health checks, Daily Management System and is responsible for the integrity of the area’s data acquisition and reporting systems.  The Packaging Technician receives daily direction from the VLT Supervisor and assists in developing the Plan for the Day.  The Packaging Technician develops the Line Improvement Teams’ technical capability and mastery of process control and data analysis.

Basic math and counting skills, prior manufacturing or warehouse experience preferred. In order give your best, you must also be able to be on your feet for up to eight hours, keep up with a fast, repetitious pace and perform repetitious lifting up to 25 pounds.

• Function as a technical and business resource in areas of system operations and product requirements.
• Drive Continuous Improvement and total employee involvement in critical success areas by empowering employees to utilize Manufacturing Excellence processes and Continuous Improvement tools.
• Demonstrate technical and business expertise on systems/products/technologies they are responsible for improving.
• Demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills using Continuous Improvement techniques. Show thorough understanding of the interactions between machine, materials, methods, environment and people.
• Assists or signs-off on process control strategies to enable technicians to respond to out-of-control situations.
• Serve as a technical liaison for team members as well as plant technical and management resources.
• Assists in creating processes to solve problems that are not people dependent, that are repeatable and yield the same results every time.
• Demonstrates technical ability to make the connection between raw data and actual manufacturing events and can make that data/process connection for others.
• Ability to backfill any Improvement Team position as needed to cover for absence.
