Position Summary:
The Employee Engagement & Wellness Specialist is responsible for fostering a positive and
engaging work environment across the district by leading initiatives in recruitment and retention,
employee wellness, and workers' compensation management. This role plays a critical part in
building a healthy and engaged workforce committed to the school district and community.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Retention:
• Design and implement innovative recruitment strategies to attract and retain high-quality
talent.
• Develop partnerships with colleges, universities, and community organizations to create
pipelines for talent acquisition.
• Monitor workforce trends and recommend strategies to address staffing challenges and
increase employee retention.
• Organize and conduct onboarding programs to integrate new hires effectively and foster a
sense of belonging.
• Collaborate with principals and supervisors to ensure hiring practices that align with
district policies and goals.
• Partner with the district marketing and communications team to showcase and recognize
employees and school achievements on district social media and website as well as
advertise open positions and open interview events.
• Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to ensure events, recruitment,
and employee recognition initiatives are aligned with the district's brand strategy and
communication style.
• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate all district open interview events.
• Responsible for developing, overseeing, and implementing ongoing employee engagement
and recognition programs and events and providing consultation to others accountable for
delivering engagement initiatives.
• Conduct exit interviews, summarize findings, and discuss trends and concerns with
management.
Wellness Coordinator:
• Develop, implement, and manage the employee wellness program to promote physical,
emotional, and mental well-being.
• Coordinate wellness events and activities to engage employees and support a culture of
well-being.
• Collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent of Business and the district benefits
consultants to address benefit-related and well-being trends, issues, inquiries, or
improvement opportunities.
• Organize and promote the district Back to School Bash.
• Collaborate with the In-Health Clinic to utilize the clinic resources to maximize benefits
for staff.
• Engage with organizations like the Wellness Council of America (WELCOA) and the
Wellness Council of Wisconsin (WCWI) to keep the district informed on the latest wellness
trends, activities, and initiatives.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of wellness initiatives and adjust programs based on employee
feedback and participation.
• Serve as a resource for employees seeking information about wellness benefits and
services.
Workers' Compensation Management:
• Oversee the district’s workers’ compensation program, ensuring compliance with state
and federal regulations.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employees reporting workplace injuries or
illnesses.
• Manage claims processing, working with insurance carriers to ensure timely and accurate
handling.
• Work with the insurance carrier to conduct accident investigations and recommend safety
measures to prevent future incidents.
• Coordinate return-to-work timeline and communication, collaborating with supervisors to
accommodate employee needs while maintaining productivity.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Business
Administration, Human Resources, or a related professional discipline.
• Experience: A minimum of five years of experience with progressive Human Resources responsibilities is preferred. Preferred candidates will have experience in recruitment, as
well as developing effective strategies to attract and retain talent.
Skills & Knowledge:
o Experience in Human Resources with knowledge of policies and procedures.
o Knowledge of well-being and wellness benefits programs and initiatives.
o Familiarity with marketing and communications with awareness of brand alignment.
o Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner.
o High degree of initiative and resourcefulness in problem-solving and obtaining information.
o Strong teamwork capabilities and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships.
o Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
o Superior customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Salary : $55,000 - $65,000
