What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dining Assistant position at Sheboygan County?
Performs a wide range of duties involved with preparation and service of foods and beverages to various resident service areas. Assists in cleaning work areas, equipment, dishes and utensils, and resident service areas. Performs all duties in compliance with the policies and procedures of the Dining Services.
Assists in preparing food and beverage items while adhering to policies and procedures including, but not limited to: portion control, quality control, property food handling and sanitation standards.
Assist with and/or sets up and serves meals to all residents as assigned.
Assists with the preparation and dishing up of salads, desserts and nourishments according to direction of supervisor(s).
Assists in the preparation and service of food for meetings, activities or special events as directed.
Maintains efficient cleanliness of dining areas after meal service is complete.
Cleans and sanitizes all areas in the kitchen including floors, equipment, storage, dish and any other areas according to cleaning schedules and as directed.
Receives and stores food and supplies as assigned.
Works in a safe manner to prevent harm to self, other personnel, and equipment.
Actively participates in departmental in-service training, online training, and other training as requested or required by your supervisor.
- Performs other varied duties/responsibilities as per facility need and as directed.
High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to perform assigned duties within the parameters and time constraints established for the job.
Work is performed in an institutional kitchen setting with equipment such as an oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, mixer, and knives. The employee is exposed to humidity, extremes of heat and cold, moderate noise, exposure to mechanical and burn hazards which require close attention to safety guidelines.
The work requires physical activity including near constant standing, bending, walking and balancing; occasional kneeling, climbing, stooping/crouching, gripping and reaching.
The employee must have the ability to frequently lift and/or carry items weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift/carry, push or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds. The position requires manual dexterity, frequent gripping and grasping.
Required sensory abilities include vision, ability to distinguish colors, hearing, smell, taste and touch.
Communication abilities include the ability to talk and hear within normal ranges.
Risk of blood borne pathogen exposure is considered high.
