Sheehy Hyundai of Waldorf is looking for a Used Vehicle Buyer to be responsible for purchasing vehicles at external vehicle auctions. The ideal candidate will manage the bidding process to secure vehicles by researching to ensure the selection meets the needs of our dealership.
Responsibilities
- Builds daily purchase list utilizing auction access website and auction available inventory feeds
- Identifies appropriate vehicles for purchase while taking into account reconditioning cost, arbitration rates, cycle transportation times, and wholesale losses that may negatively impact profitability
- Arranges transport of the purchased vehicle to a designated reconditioning facility
- Assists in assuring all titles on purchased vehicles are processed and sent to Floorplan
- Ensures transport company delivers vehicles within four (4) days from the date of purchase
- Completes vehicle inspections, notes unexpected damages, and facilitates arbitration if needed
- Manages arbitration to completion, which may include the return of the vehicle, Deal shield documentation, and follow-up until removal from the floor plan
- Inspects, scans, and uploads information and vehicle photos to provided software before attending the auction
- Ensures reconditioning expenses do not exceed established guidelines
- Collaborates with the sellers and auctions on unexpected high reconditioning quotes to arbitrate for the return of the vehicle or cost adjustment
- Develops and maintains relationships with auction personnel, fleet representatives, and internal partners to ensure a successful purchase process
- Creates action plans, implements and executes resolutions to reduce vehicle costs to improve profitability
Requirements
- Dealership experience is a plus but not required
- Previous auction buying experience a plus
- Strong work ethic and self-starter
- Exceptional communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and result oriented
- Must be authorized to work in the USA
- Able to pass a pre-employment background screening, Motor Vehicle Record check, and drug test.
- Must have a valid driver's license
