Sheep Mountain Lodge is seeking a resourceful, outgoing, positive, and meticulous General Manager who thinks like an entrepreneur, and is excited at the prospect of working hard for the opportunity to move a robust, well respected, Alaskan Lodge to the next level. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced individual who is ready to move their career along with our lodge.
This position is unique. It is remote, approximately 2 winding road hours from Anchorage. Housing is provided as part of the package and our selected candidate will live on site in their own house (provided as part of the package).
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3 years of direct management experience in the hospitality industry.
- 1 of those years in restaurant management.
- Direct understanding of Alaska tourism winter/summer - preferred.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Oversee, manage and improve overall operations and administration of Sheep Mountain Lodge cabins, restaurant, events, weddings, associated staff and activities.
Operations:
This position ensures integrity of systems, staff and continuity for all the following:
- Daily comings and goings of guests and the full experience.
- Personally handle group booking - contracts, relationships and related logistics.
- Manage software platforms for Lodge and Flight bookings (helicopter), tour bookings, and partner relationship building within the local tourism community.
- Collaborate with Chef and Service Leads to ensure seamless food service and positive guest experience.
- All Accounting for Lodge, Flights, Weddings and Events.
- Communications.
Guest Experience:
- Maintain our 5 star reputation by ensuring positive experiences and guest satisfaction.
- Address guest needs, inquiries, concerns and feedback.
- Develop new strategies for guest engagement and increase opportunities for a complete positive guest experience.
Manage:
- Winter: oversee room service operations -maybe cook once in a while. Inventory food/beverages for winter breakfast and dinner room service.
- Summer: train and manage staff to fully perform and engage consistent with standard operating procedures. Ensure positive staff interaction with guests according to restaurant and lodge standards.
Communications:
- Develop and implement strategies for a small lodge to manage all incoming and outgoing communications.
- Maintain and enhance social media profiles to our existing 5 star standards.
- Represent, develop and cultivate existing and new vendors, marketing and promotions.
- Develop and ensure timely communications and streamlined communications process.
This unique position is dynamic. In the winter while you are developing communication strategies and managing upcoming summer bookings you will also be helping in the kitchen, working on existing events and developing new events and relationships. You might have to shovel some snow and maybe even drive the groomer.
In the summer we are busy! You will shift from snow and kitchen to overseeing staff, managing the restaurant, and maintaining a tight handle on all communications.
We do events and weddings. You will be the primary point of contact for selling, booking and managing these events.
