Position Summary:
An AP Clerk, or Accounts Payable Clerk, is responsible for processing supplier invoices, ensuring a company meets its financial obligations by accurately recording and paying vendor bills, which includes tasks like data entry, invoice verification, and maintaining accurate records within the accounting system; they typically work closely with the accounts payable department to maintain good relationships with suppliers and ensure timely payments.
Essential Functions:
- Manage the AP vendor inbox ensuring emails are addresses per set SLA’s
- Handle external customer calls to ensure resolution with minimal touchpoints
- Invoice processing: Receiving, reviewing, and entering supplier invoices into the accounting system, verifying accuracy of details
- Data entry: Inputting invoice data into the accounting software, including vendor information, invoice number, date, amount, and line items.
- Invoice verification: Matching invoices to purchase orders and ensuring the goods or services were received and approved.
- Vendor communication: Contacting vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies or request additional information.
- File maintenance: Maintaining organized records of invoices, purchase orders, and payment documents.
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- 2 years strong data entry experience is required.
- Previous freight pay experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent data entry skills
- Basic understanding of accounting principles
- Proficiency in accounting software
- Good communication skills for interacting with vendors
- Strong organizational skills
Compensation: $21.50-$23.50 per hour
Work Location: One of Sheer’s offices: St. Louis Hybrid Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday in office
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
Sedentary inside office work with limited exposure to weather conditions.
