Job Summary:
Perform assigned duties in accordance with various responsibilities of the Accounting Department in a pleasant and professional manner. Primarily responsible for accurate accounting of employer remittances and crediting of participants worked hours and contributions made on their behalf. Must have the ability to reconcile data and produce reporting. The Remittance Clerk also provides back up and assists with other Accounting Department duties as required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Enter employer contribution remittance reporting into ISSI/Bridgeway on a daily basis.
Enter stop payments, voids and deletions.
Account for self-pay and miscellaneous receipts.
Prepare summary report, with document copies, for transfers.
Enter hours data for participants (for eligibility purposes) for which no remittance has been received.
Update participant files based on dispatch and upgrade for each local.
File declaration of hours forms received from participants.
Work with union locals to verify members moving from Plan B to Plan A.
Assist employers, participants and union locals with various issues and inquiries related to general remittance payments.
Weekly, run reports for Locals 26, 88 and 104D3 for transfers.
Monthly, prepare package to support wire transfer to Bakersfield Local.
Monthly, provide work hours for county and city employers to Local 105 Dues & Finance representative.
Print labels for sending transfer packages to Locals.
Assist with any compliance audit issues and discrepancies.
Prepare letters of Good Standing.
Provide general telephone answering support.
Additional duties as assigned by Management.
As needed, assist and back-up Accounts Payable.
As needed, process weekly consolidated check requests.
Enter reciprocal cards for new participants.
As needed, update pension reciprocal rates.
When needed, create check request form.
Run delinquency letters and prepare for mailing.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); accounting experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Communication Skills: Must have good communication skills, both oral and written; the ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence; the ability to write simple correspondence, and the ability to effectively present information in one on-one and small group situations to participants, employers and other employees of the organization. Fluency in both English and Spanish is preferable but not required.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form and the ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
Must be organized and able to work well with others with the ability to work independently.
Computer Skills: Must be familiar with Microsoft products, including Word and Excel. Must also demonstrate the ability to learn and work with the ISSI System.

This is a Union position and employee will be required to join the union membership.
Office hours 7:00 am to 4:00 pm (Mon-Fri)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32.58 - $38.31 per hour
