This position is 60% Inside Sales and 40% Freight Coordination
Sheffield Metals is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Inside Sales/Freight Coordinator to join our team. In this role you will verify and keep records on all incoming and outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment by performing the below duties to quality and productivity standards. This position will partner with inside and outside sales and management to drive the Company’s strategic vision of being a Brand of Choice for customers; serve as the customer’s advocate by responding to inbound inquiries, exceeding expectations, and providing superior customer service to increase customer attraction and retention.
Job Duties
- Support customers and inside/outside sales as needed
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers to ensure proper support and provide a positive customer experience to instill confidence and comfort in every transaction
- Serve as a liaison with Outside Sales, Purchasing and toll processor to expedite orders and meet delivery dates
- Review, interpret and understand part numbers, instructions and specifications of sales comments, fabrication tickets and delivery tickets
- Operate computer to perform Oracle NetSuite system functions as well as UPS Worldship, and maintain shipping/receiving records
- Prepare, complete and process necessary paperwork; enter ship quantities in the system
- Independently plan, coordinate and schedule activities with various departments and outside carriers to meet scheduled ship dates
- Reconcile all freight, making sure when both single and multiple line orders ship together that allocations are correct
- Accurately close out shipped orders
- Work with both Sales and Operations to coordinate shipments for both LTL and FTL as it relates to shipment time and accuracy
- Arrange for freight pick up; get proof of delivery when required
- Manage inbound and outbound freight appointments
- Manage carrier relationships, including the management of billing discrepancies, vendor visits and coordinating corrections with vendors when necessary
- Manage freight claims for facility and follow established processes
- Perform duties to establish Quality Assurance Standards; report defective or substandard material, supplies or products
- Confirm money received on all CIA orders prior to shipping
- Help fulfill color chip requests and ship marketing material as needed to customers and outside sales representatives
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition; follow all safety guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
Education
High school diploma or GED is required; an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with a focus in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Marketing, or related discipline is preferred; in the absence of a degree, directly related job experience serving in strategic account management and industrial sales role, where a number of years and proven knowledge may offset the degree requirement
Experience & Skills
- At least one year of prior professional-level customer service experience
- A proven track record of building and maintaining effective customer relationships within different organizations to meet or exceed established goals for product sales
- Demonstrated strong organizational abilities and prior experience utilizing a Customer Relationship Management system for business information tracking
- Previous inside sales experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work with internal and external customers providing exceptional customer service
- Requires solid written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills are required.
- Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office) are required.
- Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined with the ability to multi-task.
- Must successfully complete drug screen, physical and E-Verify
