(Sheladia), a minority-owned business established in 1974, is an engineering and architecture firm supporting U.S. government, state and county projects, as well as U.S. funded international projects and multi-lateral donor bank and host-country funded projects.Job DescriptionWe are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Specification Writer to join our team with the job location to be on-site at WMATA premises in Alexandria, VA or New Carrolton, MD. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining technical specifications for construction and engineering projects, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with industry standards.Develop, revise, and maintain WMATA technical specifications and the WMATA Manual of Design Criteria;Develop technical documents to support design, construction, contracts, and operations processes for capital and non-capital projects;Prepare policy and procedure documentation;Maintain the most up-to-date versions of WMATA technical standards in an orderly manner;Conduct timely technical reviews of draft documents; andPerform additional assignments as directed by the WMATA Task Manager.Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture or a related field;Minimum of five (5) years of experience in preparing technical specifications and documents for rail transit projects;Ability to work collaboratively across departments within a transit authority;Extensive experience with all Microsoft Office applications;Ability to write clearly and professionally;Ability to produce communications quickly and efficiently; andGeneral knowledge of rail transit agencies' design standards for architecture, engineering and construction, as well as safety and security regulations such as fixed-rail clearances, level-boarding, and OSHA policiesPreferred Qualifications : Familiarity with WMATA standard processes and proceduresProfessional Engineer (PE) License or Registered Architect (RA)Certified Construction SpecifierAdditional InformationProposed Salary : $70 - 110 k annualSheladia Associates, Inc. has made the best effort to accurately represent the pay range for this position, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and any applicable cost of living data relevant to the position / candidate.Other compensation : opportunities for annual increase and bonus, and other types of bonusesSheladia provides employees the opportunity to gain exposure and collaboration with multiple disciplines on a variety of projects.
