Job Summary
The Human Resources Specialist is a professional responsible for performing HR-related duties. This role encompasses various functional areas, including benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action, and employment law compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment and Staffing
Coordinate recruiting initiatives, develop job descriptions and specifications, prepare recruitment materials, and post jobs to relevant platforms. Source candidates through databases and social media, screen resumes and applications, and conduct interviews using reliable tools and methods.
Onboarding
Manage employee onboarding and organize training initiatives. Provide orientations by sharing onboarding packages and explaining company policies.
Employee Relations
Support day-to-day HR operations, provide administrative assistance, compile and update employee records, and process personnel documentation.
Benefits Administration
Administer compensation and benefit plans, assist in developing human resource policies, undertake performance management tasks, and gather HR metrics such as time to hire and employee turnover rates.
Compliance
Maintain legal compliance by monitoring federal and state requirements, conducting investigations, and maintaining records. Update employee information and maintain accurate employment data.
Training and Development
Organize training sessions for new and existing employees, plan HR department activities, and bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands and grievances.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Proven experience as an HR Generalist or HR Specialist.
- Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of employment/labor laws.
- Proficiency in MS Office and related software.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Aptitude in problem-solving.
- Desire to work collaboratively with a results-driven approach.
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential.
- Experience with HR databases and HRIS systems.
